Back to school: finding your next home close to a good school

For some house hunters, finding the right home that is close to a good school, is one of the most important factors, which is why reiwa.com listings include the closest 10 schools to the property that are registered with the Western Australian Department of Education. 

For those that have children that are still a few years off from starting primary school, you might want to look at suburbs that have new schools opening. In 2020, there are four new primary schools opening, with five more in 2021 and an additional five recently announced to open in 2022.  

Comparing median prices 

In some of these suburbs, the median price may be lower than the median for Greater Perth which is currently sitting at $479,000 and $350 per week for rentals.  

For example, both Sheoak Grove and Baldivis South Primary School are both located in Baldivis, which in the 12 months to October 2019 had a median sale price of $385,000 and a median rent price of $320 per week – both lower than the median for Greater Perth.
