Head for the Hills - A stunning location on a magical block

This rare landmark sanctuary is a unique project in an awe-inspiring dress-circle location backing onto the majestic Greenmount National Park, right on the edge of the Darling Scarp yet situated just minutes from the centre of Darlington village – famous for its community life and artistic heritage.

Perched on a sprawling, elevated and private 5,299sqm block, this mid-century “retro” home is nothing more than a blank canvas that is in need of a total revamp but boasts permanent views of the spectacular Perth CBD. The house is to be sold on an “as-is” basis and will capture your imagination through the seemingly-endless possibilities it has to offer. The space on offer and R5 zoning provides the rare opportunity to subdivide (subject to Council approval) without compromising the amazing city views that both lots would enjoy.

A pleasant rear northerly aspect adjoins the National Park’s nature reserve and gorgeous Heritage Trail to Darlington – just a 15 minute bike ride. The beautiful, character block also plays host to a winter creek, granite boulders and splendid grass trees.

Significant stonework to the property includes its foundations undercroft, outside stairs and garden terracing. The disused eight-metre swimming pool blends right into the landscape with its attractive stonework foundation. A new powered 49sqm workshop with dual access is simply an added bonus.

A trip to the city will take you 35 minutes from Boya, whilst a short 20-minute drive to either the Perth domestic or international airport terminals is a measure of this iconic parkside acreage’s astonishing convenience.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity where the visionary buyer can create their statement home in this sought-after Hills neighbourhood.

Boya overview

To supply the stone required to build the groynes at Fremantle Harbour, a Government quarry was established in the hills a little south-west of Darlington. A spur line was run into the quarry from the existing railway and, by July 1901, dozens of iron and hessian huts housing approximately 150 workmen were clustered near the site. In August of 1901, construction began on a railway siding for the use of this settlement and the first name proposed was "Yan-Yeen". This was rejected because of a duplication in Victoria and the Aboriginal word "Boya", appropriately meaning rock/stone, was chosen instead. It was later found that the correct Aboriginal name for the area was "Nyeedoup" but Boya remains appropriate as the Aboriginal sub-tribe who once inhabited the hills were known as "Boya-Ngoora".
