The House on the Lake

If you have been searching for that final, ultimate place to call home - this well-known Denmark property must be near the top of your list. With the space and seclusion of a rural property, yet still within walking distance of great cafes and the centre of town. Catching a feed of marron from your front deck is simply the stuff of dreams!

But back to reality, we offer you an architect designed and very comfortable 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cedar and iron home plus adjoining 2 bedroom studio all within a stunning garden set around the property's deep freshwater lake. A matching cedar shed fits into this setting beautifully as well as providing a practical base for tools and toys alike.

The main living area has the ambience of a luxury lodge and enjoys soaring, double height cathedral ceilings with floor to ceiling glazing overlooking the magnificent lake. Warmed by a slow combustion fire, this is the spot for cooler nights with a glass of local red. When it's time to entertain family and friends - the deck is definitely the place to be!
Overhanging the lake, and with views through to Wilson Inlet, many long-table lunches have been enjoyed out here!

Three comfortable bedrooms all have stunning garden views with the main enjoying a spa bath, private deck, walk-in-robe, built-in robe and ensuite. Upstairs, the study area is well lit courtesy of a skylight and enjoys a stunning view through the gable window.

Just to the other side of the large carport is the studio apartment. A fully self contained suite which offers two sleeping areas (bedroom plus mezzanine), indoor living plus a covered outdoor area. This is an incredibly popular short-stay accommodation option for tourists and friends of the owners alike and provides handy additional income year round.

The manicured and reticulated grounds are quite breathtaking and include an almost 100 year old palm tree (with seat built around the base), massive tree ferns, ornamental plums, fig, stone fruit and citrus trees just to name a few. Resident ducks, parrots and galahs will welcome you and occasionally ask for a feed.

Denmark overview

The townsite of Denmark, located on the south coast 51 kilometres west of Albany, was gazetted a townsite in 1909. It is located on the Denmark River from which it derives its name, the river having been named by the explorer Dr J B Wilson RN in December 1829. Wilson named it the "Denmark" in compliment to his friend Dr. Alexander Denmark R.N. a physician to the fleet. The Aboriginal name "Koorrabup", recorded by Alfred Hillman in 1833, also refers to this area.

Although a townsite was not declared here until 1909, a settlement of this name had existed here for some years previous. A Millars Bros. Timber mill was established on the banks of the river in 1894.
