Affordable housing a feature of Cockburn Coast project - reiwa.comHousing Minister Colin Holt has announced that Shoreline, the first precinct of the Cockburn Coast project, will have a housing affordability target of 15 per cent.

Joining forces with LandCorp, The Housing Authority plan to deliver an affordable housing project that includes around 65 units (one, two and three bedroom) and 750 square metres of commercial space.

Mr Holt said the affordability target of 15 per cent was a major initiative that would provide new affordable housing opportunities in a highly desirable area.

“It will also provide a range of housing options, including full-market sales, shared equity ownership and social housing.

"Shoreline and the broader area will over time be home for up to 12,000 residents in 6,000 dwellings," Mr Holt said.

Acting Lands Minister Mia Davies said an Affordable Housing Toolkit which included floor space bonus incentives would promote affordable housing in the area.

"These bonuses will enable increased yield and encourage better use of the building lots to provide innovative residential designs.

"Representatives of LandCorp, the Housing Authority and the City of Cockburn have developed these initiatives that will for the first time utilise planning mechanisms such as density bonuses to demonstrate how affordable housing can be rolled out as an integral part of new urban developments," Ms Davies said.
