Affordability improves as dwelling prices ease - reiwa.comThe Australian Bureau of Statistics’ (ABS) latest data shows an easing in dwelling price growth across the country, with the weighted average of all States and Territories coming in at 8.7 per cent for the December 2015 quarter, down from 10.7 per cent in the December 2014 quarter.

In Perth, the Residential Property Price Index came in at -2.9 per cent for the December 2015 quarter, up from -3.3 per cent in the December 2014 quarter.

REIWA President Hayden Groves said while it was good to see growth rates rebound in Perth by 0.4 per cent in the December 2015 quarter, home buyers were still well positioned to secure a home at an affordable price.

“The ABS’s latest data is reflective of current market conditions in Perth which continue to present good opportunity for home buyers looking to buy or trade up,” Mr Groves said.
