Thanks to a number of REIWA initiatives the public can have full confidence that their interests will be protected when they use a REIWA agent to sell, purchase or lease a property.
Documents and Forms
REIWA owns and controls the standardised documentation used in all areas of real estate practice.
In particular, it has developed an Offer and Acceptance form regarded by many as the best available property sale contract in Australia. REIWA has also developed an accompanying joint form of General Conditions for the Sale of Land which it co-owns with The Law Society of WA.
When used together in a real estate transaction these forms have resulted in the simplest type of real estate contract in Australia. These forms and contracts are frequently updated to reflect the changing regulatory environment and to ensure that clients of REIWA members are protected.
A trained professional
When selling or leasing your home or investment property you need someone skilled in marketing, negotiating and communication. REIWA encourages its members and their staff to continually update their education and professional training. REIWA members have access to more than 60 courses each year to keep them up to date with industry developments and marketing trends. The courses are designed to ensure REIWA members can provide the best level of service and expertise to meet your needs.
Accurate market information
Having the latest market information and access to historical trends is critical to getting the right selling or rental price. REIWA has its own research department which maintains the most current and extensive information on all aspects of the property market. REIWA data and analysis are highly regarded by government and industry as accurate and reliable. Only REIWA members have automatic access to this industry intelligence.
REIWA operates a service to the public whereby they can raise queries and seek clarification in relation to any real estate transaction made through a real estate agent. REIWA members assist on a voluntary basis with those enquiries and advise consumers of recourse which is available should the complaint not be able to be resolved by mediation.
If there is a financial claim REIWA operates an arbitration service.
Only by listing your property with a REIWA agent can you advertise it for sale on the reiwa.com.au website.
reiwa.com.au is the most successful, high profile real estate portal operated by any real estate institute in Australia. No other website in Western Australia has as much current, detailed, research information on the local housing market.
The reiwa.com property portal experiences over one million visits a month* to view properties listed for sale or rent, read our trusted market data, view suburb profiles and much more (* 2012 figures). Collectively, these visitors view over 10 million web pages (Nielsen, independent traffic audit, Nov 2012).
If your property isn't on reiwa.com.au, then you're missing out on significant market exposure and many potential buyers and tenants.
For the protection of consumers of real estate services REIWA members are required as a condition of membership to hold professional indemnity insurance.
